Continue to the cedar forests near Azrou, where you might spot Barbary macaques. The journey continues through the picturesque landscapes of the Middle Atlas, passing Berber villages before stopping in Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, drive through the dramatic Ziz Gorge and lush Ziz Valley, arriving in Merzouga by late afternoon. Here, you’ll embark on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you’ll enjoy a stunning sunset and spend the night in a desert camp, complete with a traditional Moroccan dinner and Berber music under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga

Wake up early to experience the magical sunrise over the Sahara dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Today, you’ll have a full day to explore the desert and its surroundings. You can visit the nearby village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa musicians, or take a 4×4 excursion to explore the desert’s hidden gems, including fossil fields, ancient oases, and traditional nomad camps. If you prefer, spend the day relaxing at your camp or riding a camel deeper into the dunes. As the day winds down, enjoy another night under the starry desert sky, savoring a delicious Moroccan dinner and the peaceful ambiance of the Sahara.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges

After breakfast, embark on a camel trek back to Merzouga and then head towards Rissani, a town with a rich history and a lively market. Explore Rissani’s traditional souks before continuing your journey to the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved out a dramatic canyon with towering limestone cliffs. Spend the afternoon hiking through the gorges or relaxing by the river. Overnight in a nearby hotel or guesthouse, surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the area.

Day 4: Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, travel through the scenic Dades Valley, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs,” with its ancient fortresses and lush oases.
